1980-1983 : Best Of The Daytona Shootouts
NOTE : Please understand that these highlight reels were originally shot on film, not video. I am trying to be
as honest as I can about the film quality. These films were originally intended for the smaller TV sets
of the 80's, so they may appear grainy on the big TV sets of today.  All films are in COLOR.
1980 Busch Clash – February 10th, 1980  - (18 minutes)
The Busch Clash was held at Daytona International Speedway the week before the Daytona 500, and was very
similar to the Twin 125 Qualifiers. The big difference though is that the Twin 125 Qualifiers were held in order to
qualify a team for the Daytona 500, where the Busch Clash was simply for prize money! Some phenomenal no holds-
barred racing with the then current (and future) legends of NASCAR in a 20-lap shootout at Daytona. Dale Earnhardt
shows why he became the most respected and feared young driver of 1980, as he makes a last lap pass to take the
win. This is live footage, but video starts at Lap 4 (first 3 laps are lost). (
Condition - VG+)
Some incredible racing from the legends of NASCAR! This jam-packed 105 minute DVD
contains original CBS broadcasts (without commercials) of 4 of my favorite shootout
races from the 1980-1983 era. The legends are all here, including a young kid named
Dale Earnhardt, the legendary Richard Petty, Buddy Baker, Darrell Waltrip, Bill Elliott,
Bobby Allison, Cale Yarborough, and Neil Bonnett, and many more.
DVD Length : 105 minutes                         Quality : Good to VG+

1980 Twin 125 Qualifiers – February 14th, 1980  - (19 minutes)
Both Twin 125 Qualifiers at Daytona International Speedway. A sad day, an accident takes
the life of Ricky Knotts as he slides into the inside retaining wall coming out of turn 4. As for
the rest of the race, a massive crash involving 9 cars takes out a young Kyle Petty, and we
see Richard walking his son off the track. Some great racing between Cale Yarborough, Neil
Bonnett, and Buddy Baker on the last lap.

1981 Twin 125 Qualifiers – February 12th & 13th, 1981  - (44 minutes)
More exciting racing! In Race #1, John Anderson flips coming out of Turn 2. Bobby Allison debuts his very
controversial 1981 Pontiac Lemans. Connie Saylor flips on the back stretch and slides on his roof for over
1000 feet, and Bobby Allison takes the win. In Race #2, Harry Dinwiddie slams into the infamous inside
retaining wall coming out of Turn 4. A great mix of cars in 1981, including Oldsmobiles, Buicks, Fords,
Pontiacs, and Dodges, and this one has a great finish!

1983 Busch Clash – February 14th, 1983  - (22 minutes)
This is a 20-lap Busch Clash Shootout at Daytona (for prize money). Richard Petty and A.J. Foyt are in the CBS
broadcast booth, and they watch Neil Bonnett, Darrell Waltrip, and Bill Elliott put on a superb driving exhibition. Dale
Earnhardt is driving his #15 Ford Thunderbird, and he has smoke pouring from the engine soon after the race starts.
He’s black-flagged, but he ignores the warning, and hangs on to the end of the race (he is later fined, and his finishing
position is changed accordingly). Bobby Allison slams the inside retaining wall (again, coming out of Turn 4), and there
is a big crash on the last lap involving Earnhardt. And in the end, Neil Bonnett takes the win!
